Instead of spending the summer with her boyfriend, friends, and working at the mall, Rowena's life is about to take a different turn. After finding her boyfriend making out with a freshman girl, on a whim she applies for a job at the Renaissance Faire. Ro has never been to Faire and has no idea what she is signing up for.

As we follow Ro through the ups and downs of learning a new job, Laura Wettersten allows the readers to see the inside workings of the day to day life of a worker at the Renaissance Faire. This is one of the big draws of this book, being able to see the inner workings of the Faire while at the same time highlighting all the charms of this unique environment.

Though the setting is an integral part of the story that the reader is always aware of, we are also drawn to Ro as she learns, grows and gains strength over the summer. In the end we are cheering for our wonderful heroine as we pack up our things to search for our own Renaissance Faire to attend.

A fun romp in the carnival of reading!
